FAQ

If your question isn't addressed here, please contact us.  We would be happy to answer any questions you might have about the PL1 and SC1.

Q: Do I need the SC1 if I already have a transformer and timer?

A: Yes, the motor inside of the PL1 uses DC for its operation.  Our controller bridges the gap between your existing controller and the PL1.  The SC1 can be added to your existing timer with a jumper.

Q: How many path lights can the controller handle?

A: We suggest no more than 12.  The SC1 has a power supply of 150 watts, but it is a good practice not to "max out" any power supply.

Q: Can other LED lights such as spot lights or wells be on the same 2 wire line as the PL1?

A: Yes, please follow the manufacturer spec sheet of the other lights to calculate wattage usage.

Q: Does the PL1 use 2 wire?

A: Yes, the PL1 is a low voltage 2 wire system.  Since the motor in the PL1 is DC, it is important to pay attention to the positive and negative wires.  They will need to be connected the exact same way for each light.  Otherwise, the light will not operate correctly.

Q: Is there a warranty?

A: Yes, the PL1 and SC1 come with a 2 year warranty.  The warranty can be voided due to improper installation or abuse.

Q: Where can the PL1 be used? Is it waterproof?

A: The PL1 can be installed almost anywhere.  Do not install in areas prone to extensive flooding.  The PL1 is not engineered to work under water.

Q: How do I install the PL1?

A: Please visit our installation page.  If you have ever installed a sprinkler head, you can install the PL1.

Q: How much testing has been done on this lighting system?

A: Extensive testing for durability and operation have been performed.  Our product has held up to torrential downpours, burning summer heat, and bitter cold winters.

Q: What happens if something is on top of the light while it is extending?

A: The PL1 has built-in overload protection.  It will stop trying to extend if it is obstructed by more than 8lbs.  It will reset with the next cycle.
