In these posts, I will keep you up-to-date with the latest news on our retractable lighting system. But first, a little about myself and this product.
I am a landscape professional with over 25 years in the field. I am well versed in all facets of the industry, but operate primarily on the irrigation side of things. Many times I have heard customers express disappointment in their path lighting. They like and want the esthetics, but are frustrated with the constant damage that occurs due to mowing, string trimming and just everyday traffic. As a landscape professional, I know what a hassle it is to try and avoid causing damage to path lights, not to mention they are typically installed in front of irrigation heads and block the spray pattern.

Out of these frustrations, we were determined to design a retractable lighting system that was stylish, durable and easy to install on 2 wire. We also wanted them to be compatible with existing landscape systems and be a direct replacement for stationary lighting.
My father just happens to have a background in electrical / electronic engineering. Together we started with a provisional patent and got to work designing our lights. Below is our prototype / proof-of-concept video.
Once we proved our concept, we turned to some professional designers and prototype engineers to help refine our idea. Below is the first 3D rendering of our lights.

After the 3D rendering, we got started developing the control module that operates the retracting component of the lighting system. Again, we wanted it to be easy to install and be compatible with existing landscape lighting. The end result was just that. To install our lighting system, the control module is installed next to the existing transformer. The 2 wire operating the lights only needs to be wired into our module and then a jumper is installed from the module to the transformer. For new systems, the module can act as a stand-alone controller, as well. We are currently working on a Wi-Fi enabled controller and app. Below is one of the Wi-Fi trials.
Once the control module was ready and our first professionally manufactured light was delivered, we took a few months to test the 2nd prototype. We installed the light and ran it nightly through the heat, rain, foot traffic, mowers and irrigation. It has exceeded expectations and is still currently running. Below are some of the trial videos.
We made a couple of small changes to the design, completed our non-provisional patent and had the first batch of lights manufactured for field testing. They were just delivered this past Friday (9/26/2025).
There you have it. You are all caught up. I will be posting more updates as we continue testing the beta units.
Thank all of you for your interest and support.
